Dr. Harold Lancer: It all starts with the Lancer method

Dr. Harold Lancer has the unique credentials, philosophy and experience that has made him – and kept him – one of the most sought-after, respected Board Certified Dermatologists in Beverly Hills, for over 30 years.

Receiving his B.A. degree from Brandeis University, his medical doctorate from University of California, San Diego and his dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Lancer had just begun.

With Israel, an acknowledged world leader in the research, development and manufacturing of cutting-edge products and technology in dermatology, Dr. Lancer completed his plastic surgery program at the Tel HaShomer Hospital in Tel Aviv. His stellar education was concluded by his clinical work at St. John’s Institute of Dermatology in London.

Now, returning to So. CA, Dr. Lancer got to work! Establishing Lancer Skincare in Beverly Hills, he created his personal skin care protocol, The Lancer Method. This 3-step routine for the patient’s at-home care, is based on his belief that proper care and preparation of the skin, first, is essential to achieving the desired results from any corrective treatments that follow.

The Three Step Process

Dr. Lancer’s anti-aging products are each specially-formulated to work with the others to visibly improve skin tone, texture and overall appearance. His three steps are comprised of gently inflaming the top layer of the skin (polish/exfoliate); causing the body to protect itself by removing all impurities and balancing the pH level (cleanse); and then adding nutrients into the skin (nourish) and boosting its level of oxygen.

As Dr. Lancer best explains, “My patients see me primarily, because they don’t want to take the invasive route to fixing a particular issue. So we follow a set protocol. First, after consultation, they’ll have some variation of the Lancer Skincare protocol for two to six weeks; sometimes, six months or longer, depending upon the individual. We’ll check back to evaluate the results and then decide what the next procedure should be.”

When it’s time to progress into the treatment stage, Dr. Lancer says that the Venus Legacy from Venus Concept is his “first go-to procedure.” “Venus Concept is the main company that serves as the bridge between skincare at home and the procedures we perform in the office. Showing Immediate Results

Venus Legacy is one of the most popular devices in the Venus Concept product line. It’s a patented, ground-breaking non-invasive treatment that uses Multi-Polar Radio Frequency (RF) and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields to perform multiple functions.

From skin tightening and firming, to reducing lines and wrinkles, smoothing cellulite, contouring, lifting, reducing volume on large or small areas of the body, Venus Legacy may also be combined with other complementary treatments to enhance the total results.

And to the delight of the Doctor and his patients, Venus Legacy shows immediate results, is long-lasting, has no downtime and is totally pain-free.

Noting how the RF is designed to heat the skin, Dr. Lancer rapidly brings the heat to between 42 – 45 degrees centigrade and maintains it for approximately 15 minutes and then moves on to another area. For Dr. Lancer, technique is key to achieving the best results and he has determined the smoothest uniform motion at the proper temperature for the right period of time to establish the protocol for his office.

As for the actual treatment, Dr. Lancer says, “Well for example, we can use Venus Legacy to firm part of the facial/neck area, then the central neck, then the opposite sides are done. You’ll see immediate benefits as you keep moving…sometimes we treat the upper breast/cleavage area, for firmness, or to smooth crepey skin that often appears. The inner arm, the inner thigh, the outer thigh for more curvature, everywhere.

“You’ll find that every patient has an area of personal concern,” Dr. Lancer continues, “If you ask them, ‘What is it that bothers you the most?’ they’ll pick things you wouldn’t ever think about. An elbow, a knee…a knuckle. But since it’s pretty much a total body treatment, you can no longer respond, ‘Oh, no, I can’t do that.’ Now you can.”

As Dr. Lancer notes, “Venus Legacy is a series and not a one time treatment. While you’ll see a difference with the first treatment there’s, say, a series of six done every couple of weeks and then followed by a maintenance program.”

In addition to Venus Legacy, Dr. Lancer has the distinction of being the first practice in the U.S. to introduce Venus Viva – Venus Concept’s newest, most versatile product into his practice. As Dr. Lancer explains, “When it involves further textural issues, we’ll go to Venus Viva that’s designed to generate RF heat below the skin’s surface. Here you want a more fractionated ‘pinning’ into the dermis for fine line texturing, improving color, texture and pore structure.”

Dr. Lancer adds, that the Venus Viva is a procedure that does need a cream anesthetic that eliminates any discomfort with the treatment. He may treat the upper and lower eyelids; the neck to the back hairline; the cleavage line; the entire chest; sometimes the hands or whichever area the patient desires.

Once again, the Venus Viva is performed in a series, between three to six treatments, in two or three week intervals. But the patient can see an improvement immediately The Doctor says, “There’s a pinkness or a flush, like a sunburn, which fades in two or three days. But in an active lifestyle, you want to do small procedures with minimal inconvenience and a cumulative benefit. Today’s patients appreciate that.”

“It’s important to note,” Dr. Lancer concludes, “in this office, we never do these treatments on a first visit. Here, all of our patients use Lancer Skincare products to prime the skin. Because when the skin has been properly primed, that’s when you achieve the best response.”

It’s also important to note that from many of Dr. Lancer’s patients, the response is never less than “fabulous!” In 2013, Dr. Lancer had 39 clients at the Golden Globes awards. And it was at the urging of one of Dr. Lancer’s most avid fans that he actually began marketing his Lancer Skincare products, outside of his own office.
